Kenya Police’s Partnership with Simba Corp sees 30 New Proton X70 SUV’s added to Fleet

Nairobi, November 19th,2021: Simba Corp today officially handed over 30 brand new Proton X70 SUVs to the Kenya Police Service at a ceremony held at the Simba Corp Headquarters on Mombasa road. 

The Kenya Police Service over the last few years has been modernizing its fleet through the government leasing program.

Speaking at the event, Julius Sunkuli, Director logistics DCI said “We are happy to add to our fleet 30 new Proton X70’s; a very comfortable and versatile SUV that will be useful in maintaining law and order, and crime-fighting activities across the country. We have been leasing vehicles for some time now in an effort to increase efficiency in the police force which in turn ensures we are readily available to serve Kenyans.” 

Proton Product Manager, Faruk Alibhai, stated that the Proton X70 is a versatile vehicle with top-of-the-range features that make it a suitable vehicle for the police force. With a fully functional service centre with trained personnel, Simba Corp will be able to service the entire fleet at their 5 branches and numerous service centres countrywide.

Nixson Oduor, Head of Government Sales and Leasing at Simba Corp gave his remarks during the event, “This partnership in leasing marks a milestone for Simba Corp. We are grateful that The Kenya Police and other Government agencies are now able to lease brand new, international-standard vehicles to aid in their service delivery, we are proud to be part of this,” he said.

Uhuru Kenyatta, officially launched the Proton Saga in Kenya at the Associated Vehicle Assemblers(AVA)  plant in Mombasa. He was glad to mention that Kenyans can now purchase a brand new vehicle, at the same price as an 8 year old, secondhand vehicle.  The President lauded the move which also stimulates economic growth by creating jobs for Kenya’s youth.

Simba Foundation and UAP Old Mutual Faulu partner to provide technical training to the youth

Nairobi 30 August 2021Simba Foundation and UAP Old Mutual Faulu Foundation have partnered to provide technical and entrepreneurship training to underprivileged youth. The program will see more than 70 students trained in Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa counties for three years with a guaranteed paid internship during the training period. In this innovative model that encourages Competency Based Education and Training (CBET), the beneficiaries will be earning while learning skills that are much sought after by the industry.

“As a Foundation we are proud to be championing the empowerment of the youth of this country by equipping them with skills and values for a productive future. There is an evident skilling gap on technical skills in this industry, and we hope to bridge that through this training. This training has been in place, but we are expanding it further through the partnership with UAP Old Mutual Foundation”, said the Chairman of Simba Corporation Limited, Mr. Adil Popat.

On her part, Mrs. Susan Omanga, the chairperson of UAP Old Mutual Foundation emphasized the core objective of the program which is to uplift the livelihoods of young people and their families in the country. “We are glad to be partnering with Simba Corporation Limited under this initiative. As a foundation we have also partnered with some of our service providers like garages for the internship opportunities that will be provided to the students. The youth need this kind of support, and we are glad to be playing a role in supporting them, and in helping to shape their future” added Mrs. Omanga during the signing ceremony launching the partnership between the two organizations.

The project, which will be implemented through St. Kizito Vocational Training Institute in Nairobi, The Kisumu National Polytechnic in Kisumu and Christian Industrial Training College in Mombasa, as an expansion of an initiative that was began in 2016 by Simba Foundation. To date, 135 youth have benefitted from the program and many of them are currently employed or running their micro enterprises.

NCBA, Simba Corp sign asset finance deal

Nairobi, June 28th,2021:

NCBA Bank Kenya PLC has today signed an asset finance deal with Simba Corp that will see the lender finance up to 95% of all commercial and personal vehicles sold by Simba Corp.

In a bid to ease the financial load in the current business environment, new and repeat customers will in addition enjoy discounted loan facility fees. The Small and Medium Enterprise sector, which is the largest employer in Kenya, will be the biggest beneficiary of this unique financing deal, which will run for six months.

The partnership will offer customers a 13% interest rate per annum on reducing balance over a maximum tenor of 60 months. In addition, customers will receive a grace period of 60 days after the vehicle release date before loan repayment.
